New Year and a New/Old Unit

Hey there little swarms,

Today I'm going to commit myself to painting my first unit of Plaguevermin which happens to be my bunker unit.

The figures I'm using are the 1993/1995 era metal Stormvermin, i happen to have 24 with 2 sets of command (Second set came in a grab bundle of eBay).

For those unsure of the figures, here's the pictures:

Next update I'll have at least the some painted.

Unit Bio: Skavenslaves

Your slaves are potentially your best troops considering what they can do for the small amount of points that they happen to cost.

Skavenslaves are cheap, which means it's easy to field larges units and therefore Hordes.

But a horde may not be the only answer. Such large units in combination with the Skaven's
Strength in Numbers rule can be formed deep to become a roadblock. For example, a unit of
50 Skavenslaves formed into 10 ranks of 5 wide will create a nice deep unit.
Stick a Chieftain with the Battle Standard in there and once your in combat you will lose
9/10 rounds but you will have Ld 9 with a re-roll, giving you good odds of holding them up.
This unit can be put to good use holding up the enemy's elite, who'll be hacking apart slaves
but not much else. Just watch your flanks

Chaos Dwarfs sighted!

Chaos Dwarfs have been sighted near Clan Septik Burrows.

So yes to get over the Skaven  painting hump that i have been having, I've  gone and converted some Chaos Dwarfs but there still very much WIP and need alot more work done to them.. let alone a paint job..

Parts used are Marauders of Chaos Arms and Shoulder Pads (Helms), and BfSP Warriors.. with GS.

A little lax..

Now we all start painting a new army and think to oneself 'These we be done in no time' and few weeks later painting stops for that new shiny model which has court you eye.

As much as i love my Skaven i just haven't managed to paint any this last week or 2, and i can feel myself being drawn off to paint other toys.. in my case Rogue Trader era Chaos Marines and a few Chaos Dwarfs :-/

So i ask you readers of Skavendom what gets you back on track painting when you get a little distracted?

I need that extra punch to get started on 100 Slaves... oh well maybe Santa will bring me a  painting slave or 2.

A non-Skaven post! Boo Hiss!

What that i hear you say? a Skaven Blog posting something which isn't about Skaven? Oh well but today i want to discuss Buying and Selling old army's.

First point of matter is of course Ebay, every person it seems has either used Ebay of has known someone who has and has to be the most common way to either buy or sell GW toys. Now i love Ebay and used to use it alot back before Paypal when you had Bidpay.. anyone else remember that? But now it seems its a sellers market if you stuff falls into 1 or 2 categorised formats.. Used pre- 1995 40k or Pro-painted (Yes i actually mean the proper pro-painted) must have units.

Now the second point which now the reason I'm on this subject is simple i happen to have a Army for sale and want to shift it quick and rather then spam the forums i use I'd give the readers here first dibs.

Change to “The crew of the Plagueclaw Catapult have the

Converted Battle Standard Bearer! and 1k Tournament list

Hey,

After getting a large Skaven bag of mixed items of eBay i found a broken old Skaven Bell Ringer from the first Screaming Bell and thought hmmm i could make a nice BSB from him.. so i did! No i happen to have 2 BSB's any think i could get away without anyone noticing if i used 2/ heh

Battle Standard N0.2

Simple conversion, Bell ringer body, Standard from the Plague Monk set which i have shit loads of spares from and a Dagger from the old Skaven Clanrat box.

Next Thursday is a 1000 point tourney with no restrictions, I've trying to work out a 1k point force which can take on all comers as I'd be playing everyone there for the first time.
